Scrap-card: A Boy over Flowers

How do I get the idea of a freaking boy catching a flower?

I've just finished watching a famous Korean drama, Boys over Flowers...for the 1000th time..haha. It is story describing 4 super-handsome young men who are obsessed by million tons of flowers, which are referring to girls...of course. And with that, I wonder if it were literally to be real flowers, would the guys cling over them? Hahaha...smelling, touching and picking up the flowers. Oh dear me...would that happen? Sooo sweeettt.... We believe that boys do not like flowers as much as girls do....

However, there are boys who adore flowers.... Does it affect their masculinity? Does it decrease their machismo (macho)? Nopp...not at all. This fact will not affect their masculinity, believe me...

For example, my father...(yes, he's a man..not boy..haha)... He loves gardening and adores orchids and sunflowers so much.

I love this pattern...classical English style. So flowery...& pinkish too!

I tied a bow with a pink button...

  4. Dear Zoechaos and Esther:

I interpret masking here as two meanings that I've checked on Wikipedia. (I'm a 2nd Language user of English).

    Masking can mean:

    # Masking (in art), protecting a desired area from change during production

    # Masking (illustration), an art technique that influences the intended perception of a character.

  5. Hi Ninie - I think the meaning of masking has got lost in translation ! In stamping/paper crafting Masking means to cover an image so that you can then stamp another so it appears behind it - if you visit my blog I have a tutorial and some links to examples..thanks so much for hoining us though and I do hope we see you again - we still have another week of masking so maybe you could give it a try ! Esther xx

  6. Hello Ninie thank you for your comment and question. Mask and Masking has many interruption's in English and the meaning of the word is often established by the context it is used in. The two common meanings in paper crafting are.

Use a stencil or mask to colour through making the pattern on the paper. Anything can be used for this method a solid image that covers (masks) the area when colour is applied leaving the shape uncoloured. Or a design cut into chipboard so that the coloured design has layers of colour.

The method Esther (& I) used is to stamp an image that you want in the foreground, and then stamp it again onto some paper with a sticky back. Cut the paper out and use it to mask the stamped image so that anything you stamp now will appear to be behind the stamped image. Esther used layers of this kind of masking to make her scene and also provided a tutorial on her blog. Sometimes this mask can be a simple torn piece of paper laid over a coloured area more colour is applied above it to make a landscape with hills.

Both these methods are covered by the meaning given 'Masking (in art), protecting a desired area from change during production'.

Masking does mean to hide the real intent or appearance, both literally and figuratively. I suspect that this is the meaning you read and used on your creative piece. It must be very difficult and frustration to be caught in a language puzzle like this and admire you use of English which might exceed that of some 'native' speakers.

I hope this helps and that you will join us again at Craft-Room Challenge, if you need clarity another time please feel free to ask XOXO Zoe
