Cherry Tree in My Backyard

:::Throwback 2015:::

These pictures were taken during early spring last year.
I think it was on 22 April 2015
when I was cleaning the backyard
to welcome a lovely season, spring (musim bunga)....

You can see the cherry flowers in the pictures below.

This is how they always bloom during early spring
before they turn into fruits like the following pictures.

The fruits are normally ready during summer.

HOW TO PROTECT YOUR CHERRIES
from birds, squirrels or other animals.

Last year, I protected the cherries using plastic bags
which I stapled to the branches using a normal stapler.
In Malaysia, this is how my father and my grandmother always do to their fruit trees.
They wrap the fruits using old newspapers or plastic bags
to protect them from being eaten by birds, squirrels or wild animals.

So I thought I might do the same thing to the cherry tree
in my backyard....and it totally worked for me!!!

The following pictures were taken during summer.

This is the result!!!!!
Isn't it wonderful to enjoy these in your backyard??????

This is the best experience ever!!!!

Well, I hope this idea may help you too.
I can't wait for summer 2016
so I can enjoy these scrumptious crunchy cherries again!!!

Bye now!

Kiwi Asam boi

Ingredients:
Kiwi (about 4 - per person)
Sugar (2 tablespoons - I used brown sugar)
Salt (1 teaspoon)
Asam boi (Chinese pickled plums - about 10 or more)

Steps:
1) Slice the kiwis. Please refer to the picture to see how you can slice them.

2) In a small food container, put all other ingredients and stir them softly using a spatula.

3) Place the container in a fridge for a bout 1 hour before serving.

Optional:
**You may need to squeeze 1 calamansi lime (limau kasturi)
if you have it. It will give a pleasant aroma to it.
But here in the UK, the calamansi lime or so called calamondin orange
is not a common fruit
which you can simply pick from your backyard
like we always do in Malaysia.
So I didn't put it.
I could buy it at many oriental supermarkets here
but the price is not reasonable
for something less important like in this recipe.

Enjoy!!!!

Weekend gateway to Cardiff, Wales

Cardiff is beautiful!!!
5-7 February 2016

We visited two castles....Cardiff Castle and Caerphilly Castle.
We took a public bus (No.26) from Cardiff City to Caerphilly Castle and hoped to stop at the nearest
bus stop to Castel Coch on the way back to the City.
Unfortunately we didn't stop there.
We were told that we had to walk to Castel Coch (17-minute-walk) from
the nearest bus stop.
It was raining heavily on that day.
So we had to cancel our plan and simply went back to the City for lunch hunting!

**I will update this post next time**

My 2016 Bedroom: Shabby Chic Contemporary

....Happy New Year...
2016

I just re-decorated my little room.
It was my birthday 26th on 23 December 2015.
So I decided to give my room a new look
as a birthday gift for myself.
This birthday is very special
because it is my very first birthday to celebrate in the lovely UK.
I have been here for a year now, experiencing all four seasons....

**These pictures were taken using my phone camera so it turns out gloomy

As you can see, it is a tiny room.
It is the smallest room in the house.
So it looks a little crowded, but I am happy in it.
It is where I eat, rest, sleep, study and even play!
So that is why I have to make it as pleasant as it can be.
It is the only place I feel comfortable in this foreign land.
My room is my home.

**********************************

This post is only the preview.
I will show you around the room next time....
(after I transferred all the pictures from my digital camera)
so will see how it actually looks like.
I will also make tutorials on how to do stuff I display in the room.

Foam flower (rose)

Bye now....

My birthday 2015

This is my first time celebrating my birthday abroad.
It's winter and snowing outside.

A year has gone, and another year awaits.
I am so grateful with everything I have had and gone through
for the past blissful year.
I hope I will stay healthy in the future
and walk through this journey
with more love, passion and patience!

Thank you housemates!!!
For the surprise cakes and gifts...

I will be a better person in the future!

Well, I redecorated my room as a gift for myself.
I am so happy with it.
Please see here for more pictures.

Bye now!

Visiting Warwick within 2 hours

15 December 2015

My housemates and I actually went to Warwick to visit the famous Warwick Castle.
However, we didn't get in because the entrance fee
is quite expensive for a little time we had.
We wouldn't have much time to explore the Castle
since it is getting dark early during winter.

I will come again during summer.
This is the Castle from far.
This pictures was taken from a garden nearby.

See how big the Castle is.
It has lakes and gardens inside.
Late spring or summer will be the best time to enjoy this, I think.

It would a waste to get in at that time because it was nearly 3 o'clock.
and 3.30 p.m. was already dark (sundown) on that day.
It was already winter. Night time is longer than day time here.
As we love to take pictures, it would be best if we could come much earlier than this.
Next time, probably in the morning....so the pictures will come out nice and clear.
Well, we only depend on the phone camera... That's why...hahaha.

So we simply drop and take photographs at any suggested
places to visit in Warwick.
Luckily, we coincidentally saw an information board at the train station
and took its picture.
We simply visited to as many as possible within that limited time.
We had to take a train back home at 4.50 P.M.

Below is the picture of an old hospital.
It is a very authentic building.

Below is the picture of Smith Street

This is St John's House.
It is a FREE museum.

Well.......not much actually.
Warwick, we will come again!!!!!
