Garden Slugs and Snails

Garden slugs and snails are torturous...
They are like everywhere....
creeping actively at nights
eating all our small plants and vegetables.

This is a slug I found in my garden this morning.

and this is Mr.Snail

These are their cousins....

Do you still remember my flower bed?
The picture below was taken last month.

See what happened after a few days.
Only two to three days, the flowers gone.
After that, the snails and slugs
started to enjoy the leaves too.

One week later, the leaves were all gone.
They ate all my French Marigold leaves.

Thank God that they didn't touch the Lavender and Red Begonia.

Well, there are actually many ways to kill slugs.

1) Salt is the best when you want to kill slugs, but it is also hazardous to grow plants. So, we must not sprinkle the salt near our plants. Salt is also famous in killing weeds. I've tried many times and it works wonderfully well.

2) Other than using salt, slug repellent beads are effective if you sprinkle them regularly near your plants. I am not sure whether it really kills slugs.

3) The other solution is to use instant coffee powder. I've recently read an article that studies show that slugs hate caffeine. So simply sprinkle coffee powder (which of course contains caffeine) around our plants. I have tried but I am not sure whether this method is really effective because we don't know how much coffee powder is enough.

So, good luck with your garden slugs and snails!!!

Cleaning the overgrown backyard

People use their spare time differently.
I choose to use my spare time with the nature.
It can ease my pain (caused by thinking too much..haha).
It can release my stress....after a tiring day working on my thesis.
It is like entering a different world of green
where it is only me and nature.

I don't use grass mower because it will be so tedious.
It stays in the shed.
I usually use a pair of hedge shears to cut the grass instead.
It was bought weeks ago for only GBP5.00.

Next time, I will turn it into a garden.

Flower bedding

To celebrate this Spring, it's time to make a few changes.
Well, I started with flower bedding
just right next to the door to enter my house.

I bought some flower plants for flower bedding.
French Marigold, Wild Lavender and Red Begonia

Well, at least, it is better than before.
Now, with this, the house looks like a human is its owner.

Chocolate tart cake

This type of chocolate tart cake is extremely easy to make.
So I made two cakes just now.

STEPS:

Chop one dark chocolate bar (200gm) into tiny pieces.

Chop some of raspberry white chocolate bar into tiny pieces.
This is optional.

Pour 300ml cream into a big mug.
Heat it in a microwave oven for 1 minute.

Then, pour the hot cream onto the chopped chocolate.
Let it rest for 5 minutes, before you can whisk it.

Whisk the mixture well until it becomes chocolate ganache.
This recipe is made to fill two flan cases.

After that, prepare the flan base.
"Flan" or "tart" means an open pastry case which you can fill anything in.
You can call it flan case or tart base or tart case...whatever you like!
They are all the same thing.

This is a sponge flan base.
Well, for this one, its texture is exactly like a sponge cake.
The size is as big as a dinner plate.

Don't worry! Simply buy it at any supermarkets.
Well, you can also make your own biscuit flan base instead,
if you are hardworking enough.

Spread some strawberry jam on top, if you want.
This is optional.

Fill the flan case with the chocolate ganache while it is still warm.

Cut each strawberry into half.

Decorate the cake as you please.

Lastly, let it rest in your fridge for a couple of hours before you can serve it.

 Ready to serve!!!!

Enjoy!

Caricature for a friend #1

Something to do whenever I'm bored...

Gochujang substitute - Sriracha

I use Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce as a substitute to gochujang (Korean hot chili paste).
It is a product of Thailand which I think you can find it in Malaysia too.
It has a certified HALAL logo from Thailand.
The taste is slightly different, of course.
But the heat taste is absolutely tolerable.
I bought this for £2.39 at a Korean food store.

You can use Sriracha instead of gochujang to make bibimbap (mixed rice and veggies).
Korean rice with lettuce wrap is absolutely scrumptious with Sriracha.
I always use Sriracha to make ddokbokki (hot sweet rice cake) too.
The above picture shows what I prepared for a dinner.

First row, from left:
Seaweed
Sweet and spicy minced beef meat.
Sweet Anchovies in sesame seeds
Bean sprouts (half-boiled with a pinch of salt)
Ddokbokki (Korean Sweet and spicy rice cake: recipe)

Second row, from left:
Sesame seeds
Cucumbers (half-boiled)
Carrots (half-boiled)
Sriracha Chili Sauce

Third row, from left:
Kimchi (Korean fermented cabbage)
Stir-fried mixed vegetables (brussel sprouts, cabbages, garlics, peppers)
Fresh lettuce

These are all side-dishes to sushi rice.

April Good, not April Fool...

I don't celebrate April Fool.
Too old to do pranks already...**sad

I love the idea of April Good instead....
Why not making someone happy
on the 1st of April with good things instead of pranks?

So simply give this to your friend,
without switching the Cadbury Eggs with the real eggs ya!!!

Voodoo Doll

It's funny that they sell this voodoo doll at a shop in my campus.
The question is...does it really work???
Hahahahahaha....

Don't worry... I didn't buy it!!! Hahahaha....
